Idet Harel argues that in times of constant change we need to teach our students differently – gone are the three R’s, meet the three X’s! Harel introduces the new means by which we can direct our students, particularly through the internet, so that they can “grow and succeed” in today’s world – eXploring, eXpressing and eXchanging.
Harel believes that learning resonates “when a child discovers for herself rather than being told”. By eXploring sutdents develop resourceful and flexible minds. The internet provides the perfect space to encourage open ended discovery.
By eXpressing through the internet student’s become the “builders of their own ideas”. Through the net they can become versatile and effective communicators.
Harel argues that “real learning only occurs in a social context”. By sharing and eXchanging ideas with others students will learn better themselves and are also developing tools they will most certainly use in the workplace.
